Comment on Something to Do, Something to Love, and Something to Hope For by Patti Hair https://elainevoci.com/blog/something-to-do-something-to-love-and-something-to-hope-for/#comment-57 Wed, 19 Dec 2018 19:04:37 +0000 https://elainevoci.com/?p=1005#comment-57 Lovely and loving thoughts, Elaine. I so appreciate your newsletter and wisdom, your three “somethings” are spot on.

I received my best wisdom from my 4 year old grandson, Finnegan. I noticed that his short little legs had grown into long matchstick legs. I told him, “Finnegan, I want you to stop growing up!” That sweet little Irish face looked at me incredulously and said, “Nana, I can’t stop growing up”.
Me head literally felt like it exploded as I realized that I, too, could NOT stop the crumbling of my body in the aging process. ( nor could my daughter with menopause nor my granddaughter with puberty).
I have been at peace with arthritis and mobility issues since Finnegan’s pearl of wisdom.

Happy holidays and keep spreading your own wise thoughts. You are appreciated! Xxoo

Comment on An American Road Trip by Peter Howe https://elainevoci.com/blog/an-american-road-trip/#comment-25 Fri, 29 Jun 2018 16:06:38 +0000 https://elainevoci.com/?p=971#comment-25 Ah, how well we know the feeling. We may have shared that this last trip with “the bus” was a spontaneous switch-up and departure from our original plan to visit Albuquerque, Santa Fe, and Taos, which caught fire while we made our final preparations, and instead became a trip north, up into Ontario, Mont Tremblant, Quebec City, and Montreal. This was very different for us, as you would understand, because we had done no pre-planning. We just set our compass north and planned it as we went. This is also a fun way to travel, especially since we had no surprise complications and no getting turned away from any campground we found.

I enoyed your entry on going to Cape Cod to unwind. Thankyou. We were neighbors many years ago on Mercer Island. Gina was a baby and my son Bill sold you rocks for your aquarium to earn money to help me out, he was certain that the 13 cents he brought home would put us over the top. I’ve often wondered how you were doing and I can see you went back to school and got your doctorate. Good for you. How is your little brood doing? Would love to know. Last I saw you your life was full of Fisher-price toys and diapers! Hope your life is full and joyful today.
